James Robert (Bob) Roach, age 90, went to be with our Lord on January 18, 2018 in Lufkin, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Pastor Johnny Lee of Johnstown, Colorado. Masonic graveside services will follow at Autumn Oak Memorial Park in Orange. Silsbee took the early Friday night and never trailed. The Silsbee Tigers defeated the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 75-56 at The Grove on the LC-M High School campus. The victory keeps the Tigers undefeated 3-0 in District 22-4A. The Bears suffered their first loss in district dropping to 2-1. Freeze Kept Plumbers Busy This Week
Long periods of freezing temperatures can end up a nightmare for people who discover water gushing from broken pipes and for the people answering the phones at a plumbing company. Plumbing companies have been handling 50 to 75 calls each for help fixing broken pipes. Water freezes into ice, which expands enough to crack or break a pipe. Bill Mello of Mello Plumbing said most of the calls started coming on Thursday as things began to thaw. When the water in a pipe turns to ice, it's solid and doesn't leak until it's back to liquid. Commissioners Vote On Mannings Replacement
A candidate and their salary has been approved to fill the position of legal counsel for the Commissioners Court. County Attorney John Kimbrough submitted the name of a candidate for the Commissioners Court’s consideration at its meeting Friday with a suggested beginning salary for a P-3 with 15-years of experience which would be $96,366 a year. The Commissioners Court unanimously approved the candidate and the recommended salary. Pizza Man Robbed On Burton
A pizza delivery man was robbed at gunpoint Thursday night at the James Zay Roberts apartments, 610 Burton Avenue. However, the delivery man refused to hand over his money. Orange Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the delivery man dropped the pizza and left. He called police at 8:48 p.m. from the business, Papa John's Pizza on MacArthur Drive. The pizza was gone when officers arrived at the apartments. Enmon said the delivery man took the ordered pizza to an apartment, but no one answered.
