The boil water notice for North Orange Water Customers has been lifted. But MUD residents are still under a boil water notice. Sunday night the district said, "As of Sunday night, January 21 the Mauriceville Utility District is still under the boil water notice at this time due to the low water pressure event. As required by Texas state law the notice cannot be rescinded until enough water samples are tested within the district. Alexandre Barras, 90, died January 21 at his home after a brief illness. He was a longtime resident of Bridge City and was at his home surrounded by loving family when heaven called. Alex was a retiree of Texaco since the 1980’s and remained quite active in church, community and family activities until very recently. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus (Council 3406), serving as a past Grand Knight and a Faithful Navigator. Police Arrest Murder Suspect
Police have arrested two people in connection with the death of a man in Round Rock on New Year’s Eve. According to KXAN, police said they used a SWAT team to serve a warrant for murder and take Richard Acosta, 23, into custody. He is accused of murdering Joshua Armstrong, who graduated from Little Cypress-Mauriceville HS in 1998. Police told KXAN that they found Armstrong shot to death on Dec. 31, 2017, at his home in Round Rock. Acosta was taken into custody without incident, police said. The LCM Lady Bears along with all softball teams in the state of Texas, began practice Friday for the 2018 season.
