Monday afternoon an 18 year old female was driving on MLK near Community Church when she struck the back of a garbage truck and one of the men emptying trash. The accident severed both of the mans legs. Tourniquets were applied on both legs and the 27 year old was conscious at the scene while awaiting transport to the hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately the man died on the way to the hospital. The female driver of the white four door vehicle was also taken to the hospital for non life threatening injuries. Weekend Reports Include Rollover On 16th
A car traveling north on 16th Street Sunday morning went off the road, hit a utility pole, and rolled over. Orange police report the 24-year-old driver was injured and treated at the scene by Acadian Ambulance. The utility pole was knocked down and electrical power was cut off to a section of town for 5 hours. The collision was at 9:15 a.m. Sunday by Chapman Avenue in the 1800 block of 16th. Tuesday and Wednesday night two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old went on a rampage in the Bleakwood area. They broke into at least 10 cars and stole all kinds of stuff. The Lady Bears at Little Cypress-Mauriceville have a new head coach. Eddie Michalko brings four decades of coaching girls basketball to LC-M including four state championships in Louisiana. The last four seasons Michalko has coached at East Chambers and has been living in the Little Cypress-Mauriceville School District community the last three years.
