Coach Ronnie Anderson passed away Monday morning. The longtime baseball coach at West Orange-Stark, who also coached at West Orange and Orangefield, was 82. Coach “Andy” was living with his son Ryke in Louisiana after his wife passed away late in 2017. Talking with former players you hear the same thing, “father figure,” “did it the right way,” “great teacher,” “mentor.” In return the word for Coach Anderson is "respect." Young Girl That Was Found After Reported Missing Dies Over Weekend
Heaven Cox, the 15 year old from Mauriceville that was the subject of a national search when she was reported missing November 26, 2017, passed away this weekend according to her mother Tammy. Cox was reported as a runaway, leaving a note that she may be in California with a man she had met online. The Orange County Sheriff's Dept. put her on the nationwide search list. Five days later she was found by investigators at a home in Vinton, where she had been since she ran away. She was reunited with her family. Police Reports Include Truck In House
A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck early Sunday morning left the roadway, knocked down a tree hit the brick bedroom wall of a house in the Greenway Park subdivision. No one was at home at 12:48 a.m. Sunday when the truck ran up the brick wall. Inside the house, a bed was located against the wall that was hit. The driver of the truck had run from the scene when Orange police arrived. Police reported the 2012 Chevrolet had been traveling eastbound on Glenhurst. Marty Roberts, 52, of Tomball, Texas, passed away on January 22, 2018, at his home. Born in Orange, Texas, on July 10, 1965, he was the son of Arlon Roy Roberts and Donna Jean (Jackson) Roberts. Marty worked as a civil engineer and enjoyed spending his free time hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.N. LCM Dance and Debate Perform Well
LCM finished 1-2 at the 22-4A UIL Meet in CX Debate and are headed to State. They are Aman Tejani & Akhil Tejani and in second place Chaz Hill & Adrienne Norris. The Honey Bears traveled to New Caney High School this past weekend to dance at the North Houston Dance Classic put on by American Dance and Drill Team. The team was named ‘Best in Class’ (1st Place) Small Team with special designations in Technique and Choreography. All 6 of their routines earned Division 1 ratings. The Republican Party will have a public forum Tuesday night in Vidor for the two county judge candidates and the two candidates for Precinct 4 commissioner. The forum is open to the public and will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Vidor Elementary School cafeteria at 400 Old U.S. Highway 90 in Vidor. LCM Competes In Tennis, Girls Golf
On Thursday, February 1, Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School’s Tennis Sub-Varsity Team competed at Lamar University. The freshman Boys Doubles Team of Logan Gaddis and Nicholas Hanson earned Bronze Medals in competition. The Mixed Doubles Team of Jared Pierce & Bella Rogers also earned Bronze Medals.
