Orange County Sheriff's Office Calls January 29-February 4 A large number of vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts were reported to the sheriff's office during last week. Deputies and other law enforcement officers in the county are teaming to do extra patrols to catch the thieves. Vidor had 18 cases of theft from vehicles reported on February 1 and 2. New Store, New Equipment Announced During CC Meeting
The Commissioners Court approved a tax abatement agreement Tuesday afternoon with Market Basket Food Stores. Jessica Hill with the Orange County Economic Development Corporation worked with Market Basket to get the tax incentive for its location in Mauriceville. Hill was excited to announce the agreement with Market Basket which plans a major expansion of its store on Highway 62 in Mauriceville. Kids Digging Class At OES
Orangefield Elementary School students in Mrs. Wolfford's 3rd grade reading classes became paleontologists this week as a culminating activity following their reading story, "The Albertosaurus Mystery, Philip Currie's Hunt in the Badlands." Using special tools, students enjoyed digging out the chips in chocolate chip cookies without breaking the cookie! Using the Scientific Method, students were able to make predictions and draw conclusions about their experiment.
