Sales tax receipts for local entities have continued to increase with the recovery after Tropical Storm Harvey. The Texas Comptroller's Office this week mailed sales tax shares to cities and counties. The checks cover sales for the month of December and the Christmas season. The five largest cities in the county all had increases for the month and for the year to date. Orange County was down slightly for the month of December 2017 compared to the same time in 2016, however the county has a healthy increase in sales tax checks received this year. Bridge City secured the third-place seed in the district with a 52-48 win over the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears. WOS hosted a powerlifting meet Feb. 8. Powerlifting Results ORANGEFIELD On Thursday February 8th the Orangefield Powerlifting team competed in the WOS Invitational Meet. Car Burglary Suspect Arrested
A teenager wanted on four warrants for car burglary was arrested for possession of marijuana about 3 a.m. Wednesday near Little Cypress subdivisions. The arrest was made by Orange Detective Sergeant Stephen Ward, who has been among extra officers working nights to try stopping car burglaries. Ward reported he was driving westward on Bear Path Road and was behind a red Honda Civic that had a paper back license that expired in 2016. He stopped the car for the violation.
