The City Council in Pinehurst approved Wednesday for City Administrator Robbie Hood to pursue disaster funding from multiple sources. Hood was authorized to receive applications for grant administration services and engineering services to handle post Harvey projects. The city administrator identified several issues he wants to pursue as part of a mitigation action plan. The first is elevating several sewer lift stations out of their flood-prone locations. Serina and Matthew Solley have been located. They were located in a vacant home not far from their residence. Orange County Detectives are on scene and stated the children are safe. The Sheriff’s Office would like to extend our gratitude to all the agencies and citizens that assisted in the search. Homeowner Stops Prowler
A citizen Monday night stopped a prowler at gunpoint in woods off Allie Payne Road. Orange police say the captured man is a "person of interest" in dozens of car burglaries in the Little Cypress area. 33-year-old Kevin Scott Miles of Little Cypress was arrested for public intoxication and possession of a crack pipe, both misdemeanors. Group Formed For Harvey Recovery
A five-member committee was appointed Tuesday by the Commissioners Court during a workshop to deal with Orange County’s recovery from Tropical Storm Harvey. The committee is based on the comprehensive hazard mitigation action plan that was adopted by the county in 2016.
