School Makes Donation To Soup Kitchen
St. Mary Catholic School recently honored the late Mr. Ralph Barrientos by making a donation to the St. Mary Catholic Church Soup Kitchen in his memory. Mr. Barrientos, 92 years old, was an usher at St. Mary Catholic Church and volunteered at the Soup Kitchen every Wednesday for many years. His daughter, Rosa Fuller has been an employee of the school for at least 25 years. Sixteenth Street could look better with brick sidewalks, models of the fruit orange, new light poles, and more code enforcement by the city. Those were some of the ideas mentions during an hour and forty-five minute City Council workshop Tuesday night on improving the appearance of the commercial thoroughfare. When a new assistance program for homeowners with Harvey-damaged houses is available, applicants will be able to go the Orange County Expo Center for help. The Homeowner Assistance Program is setting up an office at the expo center Tuesdays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. However, the date to file applications has not been announced.
