Glenn Michael Smith, age 63, died at South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer, on Friday, March 2, from complications due to cancer. He was born on Feb. 22, 1955, in Orange, Texas, the son of Billy and Darlene (Gilstrap) Smith. Glenn worked as an electrician for the majority of his life. He enjoyed the great outdoors and spending time fishing. He also enjoyed playing golf on occasion. He enjoyed taking rides up to the mountains, and being in the outdoors. For several days the Sabine River Authority has had the 11 gates at Toledo Bend opened two feet each producing a CFS of 35425. The West Orange - Stark girls had a good showing at the regional powerlifting meet this past Saturday. Shelby Jefferson who lifted in the 148 lb class finished 7th with a total of 515 lbs. She had a squat of 190 lbs, bench press of 100 lbs, and a 225 lb dead lift. Kennedy Queen who lifted in the 165 lb class finished 4th with a total of 705 lbs. The Bobcats brought home first, second and third place medals this week from the Midcounty Invitational. Girls Doubles, Taylor Decker and Megan Ibeck went undefeated in the A division. Winning the silver, Boys Doubles, Brayden Berry and Dylan Williams, defeated LCM, Silsbee and Anahuac before falling to PNG in the finals. They defeated PNG, Hardin Jefferson and Nederland in a round robin to capture the gold. Possible Threat Ends In Kansas Arrest
Police in Kansas Thursday afternoon arrested 30 year old Johnny Baldwin who called the Orange Police Department and made a threat to local schools. Orange Detective Captain Enmon said the threat, that proved to be false because of the distance, "worked out to be a fantastic drill." Two detectives recognized the man's voice on the phone because of previous encounters and knew he had mental problems.
