Grass and flowers are not the only things growing with the warmer temperatures this year. Utility payment scam attempts seem to be rising as well. Entergy has received numerous reports that both business and residential customers are getting phone calls that appear to be coming from Entergy with the caller demanding payment for an overdue bill. Orange P&Z Approves Zone Change
The Orange Planning and Zoning Commission in a split vote approved a zone change request by Woody Dorman III to change about 1.3 acres of land from high density residential to commercial 2. The site is on the northeast corner of Tulane Road near Old Timers Road. The undeveloped land has the addresses of 325 and 335 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Pedestrian Struck on Hwy. 62
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating an auto-pedestrian crash Thursday in Orange County on State Highway 62. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the DPS reports at about 4:15 PM Thursday the driver of a 2003 Ford pickup truck had his vehicle run out of gasoline and stopped his vehicle on the northbound shoulder of Highway 62 near the Mauriceville Volunteer Fire Department. WOCCISD seeking members for Advisory Committee
New program needs, aging facilities, and the impact of natural disasters such as Hurricane Harvey are just a few of the reasons school districts should periodically study both current and future facility needs. Johny Johnson, 92 of Vidor died Wednesday, March 7th, 2018 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont, Texas. A native of Center, Texas, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Johny was a member of West Orange Christian Church and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and raising chickens. Johny also enjoyed fixing electronics, he had his licensees for HAM operator and small aircraft pilot. BCPD Looking For Suspect
Bridge City Assistant Police Chief Brad Frye was going home Tuesday evening on FM1442 when a motorcycle flew past him on the shoulder of the road, clocked at over 100 mph. The motorcycle had straight pipes and was so loud it brought several people out of their homes to see where the noise was coming from. Frye pursued the motorcycle from 1442 down FM 408 into Orangefield. He lost sight briefly but was able to pick up the tire tracks which lead him to an abandoned home on Scales Rd. where the suspect drove the bike into the home and parked it in the kitchen before fleeing the scene.
