On the first day of Spring Break the Orangefield Bobcats traveled to Jasper and came home with a 9-0 victory. On her 15th birthday, Codie Sorge got the win on the mound with a one-hit shutout. Sorge surrendered a lone single in the bottom of the 5th. She finished the game with 7 strikeouts. Ryden Stanfield went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Weekend Police Reports
Two stolen vehicles and a burglary were reported to Orange police during the weekend and Friday. The first was reported at 11:46 a.m. Friday from Interstate 10 at FM 1442. A Baytown man reported his green, 2001 two-door Honda Civic had been taken. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said officers tracked the car to Happy Home Drive off Interstate 10 and east of Highway 62. Mud tracks showed the car was driven through woods at the end of Happy Home Drive into a nearby RV park and then to Womack Road. It was not recovered. Orange To Cancel Election
The Orange City Council will vote Tuesday to cancel the special election for at-large Position 6 on the council because businessman Paul Burch was the only person to file for the spot. The special election was called to fill the unexpired two years on the term of Larry Spears Jr., who has held the position. Orange County Well Represented At Tournament
Orange County was well represented at the Bass Champs Tournament on Sam Rayburn Saturday. Five of the top 25 teams featured one or both fishermen from the OC with Kevin Wolford and Shane Dorsey finishing third with an impressive 33.57 pounds, just .07 behind second place. Michael and Danny Bennett of Huntsville won the tournament with a whopping 35.23 pound stringer. 323 boats, all from Texas or Louisiana, participated in the East Region Tournament. Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School’s Bear Iron was successful this weekend, with two lifters earning spots in the State Meet. Hunter Angelo placed Second in the 165-weight class and Ethan McKay took First in the 181-weight class. Both will represent LCM in the state meet.
