The Orange City Council on Tuesday will discuss what streets to improve with $4 million worth of bonds to be sold. The council is having a workshop at 5:30 p.m. in the Danny Gray Community Room at the police station. Earlier this year, the council decided to issue up to $8 million in bonds with $4 million going to improve streets. The other big project will be a covered pavilion at the Boat Ramp off Simmons Drive. The city is paying off $10 million in bonds and will be able to issue more without increasing taxes. OPD Deals With Hungry and Foul Mouthed
A hungry thief grabbed a pizza from a deliveryman Thursday night at the Sunset Grove Apartments on Sunset Drive. Orange police went to the complex about 9:40. The deliveryman said he knocked on the door of the apartment listed as ordering the pie. However, the occupants said they didn't order anything. The deliveryman then started walking back to his vehicle. A young-looking man, tried to cut him off. OC Sheriffs Calls Nov. 19-25
Disturbances in rural Vidor led the number of calls the Orange County Sheriff's Office made during Thanksgiving week. Deputies were called to ten disturbances, or fights, around Vidor. In addition, three cases of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle were reported. The cases were from the Vidor, West Orange, and Mauriceville areas. Orange Woman Arrested For Forgery
The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that a woman who lives in Orange has been arrested after a warrant was issued for her regarding theft and 50 counts of forgery. KPLC in Lake Charles says the Sheriff’s Office says that they received a complaint of theft from an employer on August 21, 2018. A warrant was issued for Frances Christina Sturless, who was living in Orange. She was arrested by the Orange Co. Sheriff's Department and transported to the Jeff Davis Parish Jail. The Orange County Convention and Expo Center houses the county’s Road and Bridge Department, the Emergency Management Office, and the Texas Agri-Life Office. During disaster situations the Emergency Operations Center is activated in the Convention Center located on FM 1442. Communications is important for all those offices, but there is a problem with the cell phone service at the Convention Center.
