Sandra Lea Davis, 68, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 21, 2018, at home surrounded by her daughters. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Born at Frances Ann Lutcher Hospital in Orange, Texas, on February 9, 1950, she was the daughter of James E. Sanchez Gets 18 Years
A state court jury Thursday gave a punishment of 18 years in prison to a Mauriceville man found guilty of aggravated assault for stabbing a man at the Orange Boat Ramp in 2016. The stabbing was about 6:30 the evening of August 6, 2016, near where the weigh-in for the annual OCARC fishing tournament was being held. The jury in Judge Dennis Powell's 163rd District Court first found 36-year-old Samuel Cecil Sanchez guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and then decided on the punishment. Commissioners Hold Mitigation Workshop
The Commissioners Court held a one-hour workshop Thursday to review Tropical Storm Harvey grant mitigation. County Code Compliance Officer Joel Ardoin, County Engineer Clark Slacum, and Special Projects Coordinator Michelle Tubbleville elaborated on 18 projects for the Commissioners. West Orange - Stark High School precision machine students earned top honors at the District Speed Skills competition held recently. Carlos Gutierrez Vilches earned first place in the speed skills machining contest. Bruce White placed second. Jacoven Hinson placed third. OC Sheriffs Calls Mar. 14-19
The Orange County Sheriff's Office investigated the armed robbery of a Vidor convenience store on Saturday, according to log calls released by the office. The robbery was reported at 8:14 that night at the store at 915 FM 1131 at the Lakeview Cutoff. No injuries were reported.
