OCP Presents “Dixie Swim Club”
Harvey may have taken our theater but it did not take our talent. As you know Harvey affected many of us here is Orange, and the Orange Community Player Theater was one of the places devastated by the storm. They are looking to get back up and running, but it is going to take the help of our fine community. OCP will be presenting Dixie Swim Club written by Jones, Hope and Wooten directed by Diana Hill. The event will take place April 27th and 28th at 7:30 at the Betty Greenberg McMillan Studio Theater in Beaumont. The donation is $30 a ticket. Orange Police Reports
A man told Orange police he was attacked with a knife by someone he knows early Sunday morning. Officers report the man had an injury but did not report that he sought medical help. Police went to a house in the 2300 block of Fourth Alley at 2:14 Sunday morning after a call about a disturbance. A man met officers and said he had lived at the house for seven days. When he went to get his belongings, a person with a knife prevented him from getting inside. He tried again to go inside, but the person attacked him. He then asked a friend to call police. NWS Calling For Heavy Rain
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles is forecasting a cold front to approach our region Wednesday, and move slowly across the region into Thursday. There will be a slight risk for strong to severe storms Wednesday and Thursday. In addition, expect to see one to five inches of rain. Jet Skiing Race Proposed In Orange
The Orange Convention and Visitors Bureau wants to bring jet ski racing to the Boat Ramp. On Tuesday, the city council will vote to spend $15,000 to bring the TxH20 ski event here on July 14 and 15. City Economic Development Director Jay Trahan in a memo said the event is expected to attract up to 50 competing racers who will be staying in local hotels. The convention and visitors bureau uses hotel occupancy taxes to promote tourism. The $15,000 will come from that fund. The tax income under state law has restricted uses.
