Rescheduled Lutcher Stark Senior HS Reunion - Classes of 1949-1950-1951 Because we had an unwelcome visitor named Harvey, the reunion we had planned for last Oct. 17th had to be cancelled. It has been rescheduled for April 17, 2018. It will be held at the Orange County Expo Center located on FM 1442. We will have the facilities from 11 AM to 5 PM. Private Contractor Taking Over Orange Water
The Orange City Council will be turning over operations and maintenance of the city's sewer plant to a private contractor. The city will pay $876,000 for the first year to Inframark LLC under the contract. The council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the council auditorium next to the Orange Public Library. The city's Economic Development Corporation board of directors will meet at 5 p.m. If the council approves the contract, Orange will have the first municipal wasterwater system in the county to be operated by a contractor. LCM Soccer Teams Ready For Playoffs
Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School is having a sensational season in soccer this year. Both of the school’s soccer teams have made the playoffs. The coaches of the two teams come from different backgrounds. Matt Wedel coaches the boys and has played or coached soccer since he was almost a toddler. Cammie Palmer did not have a back ground in soccer and has picked up the game making the Lady Bears very competitive. OFISD Changes Schedule
Starting Monday April 2, the Orangefield school district will begin all classes five minutes earlier than normal and end classes five minutes later each day. Superintendent Dr. Stephen Patterson said in a letter to parents that the inclement weather this year has the district needing more instructional minutes to meet the state minimum. The state requies 75,600 minutes of class each school year. He said the district has waivers and used other accrued minutes but will need the extra time.
