Dorothy (Rougeau) Prejean was born on May 16, 1919 in Vinton, Louisiana. After graduating from La Grange High School in Lake Charles, she trained at Charity Hospital in New Orleans to be a registered nurse. After moving to Orange, Texas she pursued her nursing career at DuPont. She met and married “Rudy” Rougeau, a native Orangite. After the loss of Rudy, she married her best friend’s widowed husband, Harold Prejean. Throughout her life Dorothy pursued her passions for dancing, gardening, bridge, golf and horse racing. CCS Tennis Advances
The Community Christian Lions Varsity Tennis Team roared to victory at TAPPS District tournament in Kerrville, TX. Friday April 6th. Boys Doubles Team of Rahul Patel and James Menard won 1st place and made All District. Girls Doubles Team of Julianna Sylestine and Erin Beard won 4th place and made All District. Most area baseball and softball teams will not play on Tuesday this week as usual because of testing. Vidor baseball and softball will host Nederland on Tuesday and Deweyville softball will host Sabine Pass. Deweyville baseball is scheduled to play Monday, April 9 against High Island. The Orange County Master Gardeners Association will be starting a new class June 7, 6PM - 8PM at the Orange County EXPO Center, 11475 FM 1442 in Orangefield. Classes will run each Thursday at this time with the addition of some Saturday classes and/or field trips. There will be several optional out of town overnight field trips. A school bus with warning lights stops on a residential street and all the drivers on the roadway know to stop. A school bus with warning lights stops on the southbound side of 16th Street, and the southbound traffic behind stops. But there's a 50-50 chance the northbound traffic three or four lanes over will continue traveling. Those drivers are breaking the law, according to Orange Police Captain Keith Longlois.
