Funeral services, under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home, will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 3:00 PM with visitation prior to services at 1:00 PM until service time. Vidor’s Price Sets Records
Brady Price, 15, won his division in at the APF Powerlifting meet this past weekend and put himself in the National Record Books. The Vidor freshman set three records in the 114 lb class for 13-15 year olds. He Squatted 330.5 lbs, Benched 225.75 lbs, and Deadlifted 352.5 lbs. He now has the opportunity to compete in Chicago to qualify for the Worlds competition. Contractors are still busy across the city of Orange as buildings are repaired from Tropical Storm Harvey, but new home construction led the total of building permits for the month of March. Wheat Homes and DeLeon Construction each got permits for two new houses in the Cypresswood Village subdivision off Highway 87 South. The value of the four houses is a total of $742,752. Wheat is building a $175,455 house at 1010 Cypresswood and another worth $198,175 at 1012 Cypresswood. DeLeon is building a $202,000 house at 4402 Persimmon and a $167,122 house at 600 Cypresswood. This week demolition crews began tearing down the building at the corner of 4th in Green in downtown Orange. The building has been the home of the Lamar State College Orange bookstore, the print shop, and the office for our Congressman Brian Babin. Tow truck company operators asked the Orange City Council Tuesday to rewrite the wrecker ordinance to "make it fair." Three men from wrecker companies spoke during the citizens comment part of the council meeting. Under state open meetings law, city staff and council members cannot respond on an item that is not on the published council agenda. Michael Hall said the city lists 14 wrecker companies, but "technically there's only five." He said one company has nine trucks and the rotation list has 14 spots, with the one company getting nine calls. Hood Receives Approval From Council
The City Council in Pinehurst conducted the annual evaluation of Robbie Hood as City Administrator on Tuesday. Afterwards Hood was approved to be the continuing city manager. Alderman Dan Mohon expressed the feelings of the whole council concerning the superior work being done by Hood in running the City of Pinehurst.
