The Bridge City City Council met in a regularly scheduled meeting in Bridge City on Tuesday night. That will be the council’s last meeting of the year. The City Council voted to cancel its next meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, because of its close proximity to the Christmas holiday. Two Playoff Games Moved To Thursday
Because of Friday's weather forecast the Newton/Daingerfield game and the San Augustine/Tenaha game have been moved to Thursday. Newton will play in Lufkin and San Augustine will play in Madisonville. As of Tuesday evening the WOS/Silsbee game is still scheduled for Friday at 7:30. Gas Stolen From School Bus
Someone got away with about 20 gallons of gasoline after stealing from a school bus at Tekoa Academy. The school's bus driver called Orange police Monday morning to report the burglary of a vehicle. He told an officer the gas tank on the bus was half full when he parked it Friday at the school, 1408 Park Avenue. Monday morning, he discovered the gas tank had about a fourth of a tank. The officer reported finding a small amount of gasoline on the ground by the bus. Also on Monday, a burglary was reported at a space at Northway Shopping Center, 3739 16th Street. Lady Cards Ready To Fly
Last season had an unusual ending for the Bridge City Lady Cardinals. Coach JoLee Kolander got her girls into the playoffs, but then went into labor with her first child. Assistant Coach Lance Robertson stepped up to lead the Lady Cardinals. Bridge City won a play-in game with the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears and then won its Bi-District game before being eliminated by Houston Wheatley which went to the final four. Lloyd B. Williams, 73 of Vidor died Monday, December 3rd, 2018 at his residence. A native of Orange, TX, he was a longtime resident of Vidor. Lloyd worked at Bethlehem Steel as a carpenter for 20 years and graduated Lamar Institute of Technology with a Machinist degree. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching western movies. Bears Rebuilding After Graduating Eleven
There is good news and bad news regarding last season for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears in basketball. First with the good news, Coach Brad Jeffcoat and his Bears enjoyed a success season. LC-M was 23-13 while winning a Bi-District game over Diboll before being knocked out in the second round of the playoffs by Hardin-Jefferson. OC United Headed to State Soccer Playoffs
The U12 Division II boys soccer team from Orange County completed an undefeated fall season with the Spindletop Youth Soccer League and earned an invitation to compete in the South Texas Youth Soccer District Playoffs near Katy this past weekend. United won all three games during the tournament on Saturday, advancing to the semi playoffs on Sunday. The team came in second place overall in their division, securing them one of only four coveted spots in the state playoff tournament this coming weekend in San Antonio.
