At approximately 6:00p.m. Tuesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to a one vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash involved a truck tractor semi-trailer and occurred near mile marker 860. Initial reports indicate that the 18-wheeler hauling steel pipes was traveling eastbound on the Interstate. Taylor Gilbert got the win giving up two runs on six hits (four of those in fifth inning) with 2K's one walk and one hit batter. Thayne Toomey pitched a scoreless sixth for the Bears (6-2) with three strikeouts. Offensively Slade Green, John Beeson had multi hit games while Jordan Alexander was 1-3 with 3 RBI's and a walk. Woman Stabbed In Neck
On April 17, 2018 at 9:44 PM, Officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to 2310 Pacific in Orange, Texas in reference to a stabbing (Aggravated Assault). During the investigation it was determined the victim was a 33 year old Hispanic female who suffered a laceration to her neck area. The victim was in stable condition and was flown via AirMed to St Elizabeth for medical treatment. The suspect fled the area and has not been located as of this time. Commissioners Making Decisions
The resignation of Brint Carlton as county judge was accepted by the Commissioners Court Tuesday, but he will remain as the chief executive of Orange County until an interim is appointed. Carlton announced his resignation last Friday indicating his last day would be Sunday, April 22, at noon. Fire At End Of Childers Rd. Tuesday
A trash pile fire at Bludworth Marine on Childers Road sent heavy black smoke northward along the Sabine River Tuesday afternoon. No injuries have been reported. The shipyard is at the end of Childers Road off DuPont Drive near the Port of Orange offices and Akrotex. Orange Fire Chief David Frenzel said the company had a large trash pile. A separate burn pile was nearby and employees set fire to the burn pile. Strong south winds blew the fire into the trash pile. Dakota Trailer Recovered
On Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at approximately 10:15am, Orange County Sheriff’s Office Detectives along with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office recovered a 2007 Dakota travel trailer previously reported as stolen through Orange County. The Dakota trailer was located near the Delta Downs Casino located along Hwy 109 South in Vinton, Louisiana. The Sheriff’s Office is pleased to report that the trailer has been released to the owner.
