A three car accident on Hwy 87 near W.Bluff Rd sent two to the hospital for medical treatment Sunday about 12:30pm. A black Ford pickup was stopped in southbound lane preparing to turn into the convenience store when he was struck from behind by a silver Honda Accord, pushing the black truck into oncoming traffic, striking a brown Ford pickup head on, which then flipped on its side. The black truck spun around and was facing the opposite direction when it stopped. Both drivers of the trucks were taken for medical treatment. Crawfish Bash Is This Weekend
The Mauriceville Heritage Association is hosting the Annual Crawfish Bash this weekend at the fairgrounds located at 7441 Cohenour Road. Thirty teams will be competing in the Crawfish contest and all-you-can-eat tickets are being presold on the MHA website along with Mega Ride passes that allow to ride the carnival rides as many times as you wish. Early Voting Starts April 23
Early voting for the city, school and special district elections starts on Monday and will run weekdays through Tuesday, May 1. The elections are Saturday, May 5. Early voting sites and times will vary by race. Five elections were canceled because of no contested races. They are for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville and Vidor school boards, Orange County Drainage District directors, and the city councils in Pinehurst and Bridge City. Motorcycle Accident Kills Driver
At approximately 3:00a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a one vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Orange County. The crash occurred near mile marker 870 and involved a motorcycle. Preliminary reports indicate that a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control striking some barrels and was ejected off the motorcycle.
