Orange narcotics officers have made drug-related arrests in two 16th Street convenience store parking lots. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said store owners have complained about loiterers and suspected drug transactions. "We make that a high priority and give them extra attention to help eliminate problems," he said. Wilbur, who is going to SFA, threw a one hitter while striking out eight, and walked one. The Lady Cards scored six runs on nine hits. Local Firefighters, EMS Recognized For Efforts
Four Orange firefighters and two emergency personnel from Acadian Ambulance Service received the Texas Department of Public Safety Director's Award in Austin Thursday. They were honored for saving the life of a local DPS trooper who was having a heart attack while on duty. DPS Director Steven McCraw during a ceremony presented the honors to Orange Fire Department Captains Cody Caples and Terry Veitch, along with firefighters Jacob Bilbo and Greg Gravett. Man Gets 55 Years For Burglary, Beating
A local jury has decided a 38-year-old man who severely beat a woman during a burglary should spend 55 years in prison and pay a $7,500 fine. The victim used her cell phone to make an audio recording of the attack and the recording was played during the trial this week before 128th District Judge Courtney Arkeen. David Dewayne Garrett, who was convicted, has previous convictions and was not eligible for probation.
