On Saturday. May 5, 2018 at approximately 3:37 P.M. Officer J. Lockett of the Pinehurst Police Department responded to the area of Somerset and Bayou Bend in Pinehurst, in reference to a suspicious vehicle. He located the vehicle in the aforementioned area parked near a wood line. Officer Lockett made contact with the lone occupant, a 41 year old white male identified as Joseph Allen Guidry of Orange. A warrant check revealed that Guidry had an outstanding arrest warrant for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia issued by the Orange Municipal Court. Orange Elects Spears As Mayor
Larry Spears Jr. had a double celebration Saturday night. He won the election to be Orange’s new mayor, plus he and his wife, Trisha, had a gender reveal party for their first child together. Spears has served on the Orange City Council and ran against Charles Ray Thomas, a newcomer to the city. Spears was still surprised by his margin of victory. He won with 80 percent of the votes, 941 to 246. “I was very overwhelmed. I’m thankful. I’m blessed. Depot Day Includes Dog Contest
The Friends of the Orange Depot have announced plenty of fun activities at the DEPOT DAY annual fundraiser, Saturday, May 12, 12-5PM at the Orange Railroad Depot Museum, 1210 Green Avenue, in Orange, TX. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears completed a sweep of their Bi-District playoff series against the Diboll Lumberjacks on Friday at Don Gibbens Field. The Bears won the deciding game 9-2 in a game heard on KOGT. For the second straight game Coach Steve Griffith used three pitchers to limit the Lumberjacks offense to just three runs in the series. “Team Force” Students Advance to State
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School “Team Force” students have advanced to the State Special Olympics Competition in Track. Five Special Olympic athletes and their five Meet in the Middle partners will travel to University of Texas at Arlington for competition from May 24 to 27. The students are trying to raise $1,500 to fund their trip. This will cover hotel rooms, meals, gas, excursions and the $300 entry fee.
