Game One of the Regional Quarterfinal between Bridge City and Jasper lived up to its billing of two good teams going at each other with the Bulldogs winning 4-1. Raid At Game Room In Mauriceville
Tuesday evening, May 15, 2018, the Orange County Sheriff’s office executed a search warrant at a game room located at 10930 Hwy 12 in Mauriceville. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Orange Police Department, Orange County Precinct Two Constable, and the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. After numerous citizens’ complaints, an investigation was initiated into the illegal gambling practices of the game room that once was a restaurant. BC Swears In Council Members
Bridge City swore in its newly elected members of the City Council on Tuesday. Municipal Judge Bill Dixon performed the oaths of office for Mayor David Rutledge, as well as council members Kirk Roccaforte, Eric Andrus, and Lucy Fields. Fields was the only member to be contested. Andrus was selected the Mayor Pro-Tem. City Manager Jerry Jones gave his report to the council. Bobcats Receive More Donations
The Orangefield High School Library was the recipient of the AASL and Dollar General Beyond Words Relief Grant in the amount of $10,000.00. Dollar General and the AASL believe in in the importance of literacy and libraries. This money will be used for technology at the OHS Library. Orangefield Elementary and High School libraries received a $12,200 grant from the Lowe's Charitable Foundation. This money will be used to refurnish the libraries after the devastation of Harvey. Oaths of office were given Tuesday to three members of the City Council in Pinehurst. Mayor Pete Runnels was sworn in as were Cynthia Adams and John Zerko by City Attorney Tommy Gunn.
