ROBBERY SUSPECT SHOT AND KILLED (UPDATE)
Update: Orange police report that 55-year-old William Jerome Broughton of Orange was the man who died after being shot during an attempted convenience store robbery early Monday morning. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said Broughton was shot twice by the store clerk who had a handgun. One shot hit Broughton in the neck and the other in the chest. Enmon said the clerk suffered a wound when one of the two bullets he fired grazed his arm. The clerk told police his wife was going to take him to a hospital for treatment. Strongarm Robbery At Texas Store
Another strongarm robbery was reported Sunday afternoon at a convenience store. Orange police report that a man reached over the counter and took cash from the register at the Texas Store, 305 Burton Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The man began to run away and pushed the clerk when he tried to stop him. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said the man who grabbed the cash is described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s. Man Dies From Accident on I-10
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two vehicle fatality crash early this morning on IH-10 inside the City Limits of Vidor. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 2:30 A.M., a 2002 Honda CRV was reportedly disabled in the middle and outside lanes of IH-10 due to being involved in a previous crash. A 2017 Volvo truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling east and struck the Honda. The driver of the Honda is identified as Paul Franco, 25, from Port Arthur. The City of Orange Economic Development Corporation and the City Council are set to give economic incentives, a tax abatement, and annex land to help a local business relocate. Performance ATV, now on West Roundbunch Road outside of Bridge City, plans to construct an 18,000 square foot building worth $1.3 million at 9590 Interstate 10. The High School Fishing Experience Sponsored by First Financial Bank saw several local high school fishing teams getting the opportunity to fish with some of the Elites Saturday on a private lake in Vidor. First place winners were Logan Duffy and Cameron Nance of Orangefield High School. Second Place went to Bryce Arrant and Charles Stiles from Vidor.
