MVE Playground Built On Saturday
Over 200 volunteers worked to build a new playground at the Mauriceville Elementary School (MVE) on Saturday, December 8. The playground replaces the previous one that was damaged by the flooding during Tropical Storm Harvey. The volunteers were divided into teams to work on different phases of the playground. Concrete was poured and playground equipment was placed in the concrete. Wood mulch was spread around the equipment to make for a safer surface on which the students can play. The sixth time was the charm for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team as the Cru knocked off Wisconsin-Whitewater for the first time in six tries to clinch a third straight trip to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the Division III National Championship Game. BC Wins St. Anne’s Tournament
The Bridge City 7th grade basketball team traveled to Beaumont over the weekend to compete in the St. Anne's tournament. The team went a perfect 3-0 and had wins over Vidor, Hardin Jefferson, and St. Anne. The team improves to 5-0 on the young season. They will host Mauriceville on Monday evening starting at 4:30. Mustang Season Ends With Loss To Silsbee
The weather and the Silsbee Tigers were too much for the West Orange-Stark Mustangs Friday. Silsbee advanced to the 4A D2 Semifinals with a 19-9 win against the Mustangs in Porter. Gusty winds and heavy rain covered the stadium for four quarters while each team had trouble throwing, catching, and holding on to the football.
