Good luck to the Deweyville Pirates who will be participating in the Division III 7on7 State Tournament in College Station this weekend. Team members include Dillon Fears, Nate Buxton, Kaiden Stoma, Keevin Gordon, Skyler Beane, Gavin Buxton, Ty Collier, Chase Williams, Lance Wilhelm, Nathan Henson, and Justin Brister. LCM Cheer Attends Camp
LCM High School cheerleaders attended NCA Cheer Camp this past week at T Bar M in New Braunfels. JV won the Band Chant award. The entire LCM program received the Herke Award on day two. LCM Varisty received Best Motion Technique on day three. Varisty and JV received two superior and one excellent ribbon for evaluations. Varsity received a bid to NCA Nationals, the Stunt S.A.F.E. award, and the mascots received the Leadership award and Most Improved Mascot award. LCM came home with spirit sticks for JV and Varsity. Linda Sue Crosby, age 71, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 in Silsbee, Texas. A private family memorial service will be held to honor Linda's life at a later date. A woman driving a Dodge pickup avoided injury Monday after the truck she was driving caught fire. The woman was northbound just before the light at MLK and I-10 when the truck started smoking. Orange Council Meets Tuesday
The city of Orange is ready Tuesday to sign more contracts for the construction of the Boardwalk Grille restaurant along the boardwalk in downtown. The proposed contract will have construction starting no later than February 1 next year. The restaurant is to be open and operating within six months. The City Council and the city's Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors will vote to provide up to $200,000 to install infrastructure like water and sewer services to the site of the new restaurant.
