Hahn Retires With Party
Monday morning will bring a historic change for the Orange County Courthouse. 260th State District Judge Buddie Hahn will no longer be in his office. After serving 33 1/2 years in the position, he has retired. Friday afternoon his friends, family, lawyers, and other judges honored him at a reception. If anyone said the word "judge," in the room, several heads turned. Some of those judges drove from Beaumont or other out-of-town places. Citizens Voice Drainage Concerns
Two workshops were held Thursday by the Commissioners Court to discuss drainage in Orange County. During the almost seven hours combined about 70 citizens voiced their concerns of the drainage in their neighborhoods. Many of the comments were from the same areas where whole neighborhoods flooded. Some of the most frequently identified areas were in the Twin Lakes addition and Terry Estates of Orangefield, East Susan Circle and Elsie Street in Bridge City, the Lakeside area of Vidor, and residences north of Interstate 10 in Orange. Mildred R. Gilbreath 77 of Orangefield died Monday, June 25th, 2018 at her residence. A native of Kirbyville, TX, she was a longtime resident of Orangefield. Mildred was a charter member of Pecan Acres Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter#914 in Vidor.
