Priscilla Jane Richard

Priscilla Jane Richard, age 77, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. A private memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date. Priscilla was born on Monday, August 5, 1940, in Kaplan, Louisiana to parents, Hazel (Stelly) and Joseph Trahan. She had been a longtime resident of Orange, Texas after moving from Lafayette, Louisiana many years ago. Priscilla was a very loving, fun, energetic, woman who was full of life and loved her family dearly. Kristen Pitts Fuss, 38, of Orange, Texas, passed away at home on June 30, 2018. A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, July 6, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Born in Orange, Texas, on July 18, 1979, she was the beloved daughter of Thomas and Donna Pitts. Kristen was so loyal with a heart of gold. NEWTON CO SHERIFF’S REPORT 07/02/2018 by Sheriff Billy Rowles   Happy 4th to ALL.  Hope your hot dogs and watermelon are good.  Let’s see what’s going on. Good job goes out to Deputy Hopson.  We got a call about a burglary that just happened.  The owner got a good look at the bad guy and his vehicle.  Deputy Hopson located him and he is still in jail.  All property recovered! We ran a search warrant north of Burkeville.  We found some drugs and items, we think are stolen from a hunting club. Machine Wins 13U World Series

Machine Baseball won the Nations 13u Select Mid South World Series Tournament at Ford Park in Beaumont. Team members include JS Bearden, Chasse Goodwin, Matt Livingston, Lane Brinson, Brady Anderson, Cameron Dischler, Brayden Price, Noah Broussard, Grant Hale, Parker Norwood, Cale Breaux, and Skylar Leger. Man Dies Trimming Trees

Saturday, June 30 at 12:23 PM, Officers of the Orange Police Department, the Orange Fire Department, and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to 508 Hydrangea in reference to a male who had been electrocuted while trimming tree limbs.  Upon Officers arrival at 12:28 PM, a male was discovered hanging from a tree where he had been electrocuted after accidentally making contact with a power line.  Entergy was called to the scene to cut the power off and the victim was retrieved by the City of Orange Fire Department with the use of an Entergy utility vehicle with a bucket extension.  The 29 year old … [Read more...] about Man Dies Trimming Trees

Moutons Hoping Not To Lose Second Home In 10 Months

Patty and David Mouton are back in their Harvey-flooded house now. But Friday morning, they are facing another disaster, this one caused by fire. Their retirement house in Forbes Park, Colorado, is believed to have been destroyed by wildfire overnight. "This is an absolute nightmare," Patty said. The Moutons live in the Camelot subdivision in Pinehurst. Tropical Storm Harvey flooded their house and neighborhood. The couple and their dog were rescued by boat.
