A 57-year-old woman from Orange was hurt Thursday morning when an SUV hit her as she crossed 16th Street at Link Avenue. Orange police gave her a ticket for failure to yield the right-of-way. Police report Tadda Marie Mahfouz was injured, but refused medical treatment at the scene. According to the accident report, Mahfouz was walking eastbound on the sidewalk of Link Avenue. Someone vandalized a Vietnam Memorial at Veterans Park in Vidor Friday. Vidor City Manager Mike Kunst told KOGT the memorial was purchased by the 1969 senior class at Vidor High School. The City of Orange is proud to announce that an ISO Class 2 rating has been achieved, effective July 2018. This Public Protection Classification (PPC) of 2 impacts those entities that are serviced by the City of Orange Fire Department and are within 1000 feet of a fire hydrant and 5 road miles of the closest fire station. Comic Relief Fundraiser August 25
Cajun Comic Relief featuring A.J. Smith, Maw Maw Thibodeaux, and Steve Shaw, is a fundraiser for Stable-Spirit and is scheduled for Saturday, August 25. Drainage Hotline Coming Soon
In the weeks since the Orange County Commissioners Court sponsored two workshops on drainage issues in the county work has been on going to clean, clear, and dig ditches for better drainage. The work has been done countywide by multiple agencies. The Orange County Drainage District may be leading the attack on the drainage ditches, but County Judge Dean Crooks stated the county’s Road and Bridge Department has been working overtime to improve the drainage.
