Turnovers dominated the opening game of district for the Bridge City Lady Cardinals on Friday night. The two teams combined for 50 turnovers in the game and only 40 points. The Lady Cardinals defeated the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs 30-10 in West Orange. Bridge City outscored West Orange-Stark in every quarter. Pinehurst Extends Re-Investment Zone
The City of Pinehurst has extended its Re-Investment Zone from MacArthur Drive to Strickland Drive to help stimulate economic development in the city. The Re-Investment Zone will allow Pinehurst to grant to tax abatements to business prospects wanting to move into the zone. Sales taxes in Pinehurst have been on the increase this year. Shooting Victim Expected To Recover
Jacob Rougeau, who was shot in the leg Wednesday as he was driving away from a house in Mauriceville, underwent surgery and is expected to survive the injury. 32-year-old Joshua Taylor was arrested in connection with the shooting. He faces charges felony aggravated assault, two counts of felony deadly conduct, and misdemeanor unlawful restraint. Man Killed Riding Bicycle
A Vidor man was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by a pickup truck while riding a bicycle. Sergeant Stephanie Davis with the Texas Department of Public Safety reports DPS troopers responded to the crash on FM 105 near West Circle Road at about 7:00 PM Wednesday. The troopers indicated a 2008 Ford pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 105. A bicyclist was traveling northbound on the shoulder of the southbound lane of the highway.
