OC Receives Funds From SETRPC
The Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission (SETRPC) approved Wednesday distributions of disaster recovery funds. Orange County will be one of the biggest recipients. Orange County Commissioner Barry Burton who has served on the regional planning commission indicates the details of the distributions are $4 million for acquisitions or buy outs and $10 million for infrastructure repairs. Vidor Appeal Pays Off With Harvey Funds
Vidor city officials were successful in pleading their case to get more money from one of the Hurricane Harvey federal recovery funds. The city will get almost $1.6 million more than originally allocated. The Southeast Texas Regional Planning Commission this week approved the regional allocations from the Community Development Block Grant program under the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Orange County Disaster Rebuild was presented $25,000 today, August 16th, in grant funding from Foundation For Southeast Texas which was made possible through the Rebuild Texas Fund. County Sales Tax Numbers for June
Commercial sales in Orange County still steadily rose in June as people continue to buy goods months after Tropical Storm Harvey. However sales may begin to slow down. At an Orange City Council budget workshop last week, Councilor Brad Childs, who owns the local Ace Hardware store, said he has noticed sales at his store starting to taper down after the flood.
