Architect Rob Clark is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of a sketch pad with 10 years of his fine ink drawings. The 8x10 inch sketch pad was in a gray pack that was stolen from his pickup truck Thursday evening during an event at the Orange Train Depot on Green Avenue. Clark, who designed the depot restoration and the new Stark Museum annex, said his truck apparently did not lock when he pushed the button on his key chain. Woman Hits Parked Car
A woman and child were injured Friday afternoon when their car rolled over after hitting a parked SUV. The collision was about 1:45 on Park Avenue at the intersection with 14th Street. Orange police said speed was likely a factor. The woman was driving a Kia sedan westbound on Park and clipped a Lincoln Navigator that was parked outside ComproTax. Spine Project To Begin Soon
A system of 26.7 miles of levees and seawalls along south Orange County is part of three projects funded with $3.9 billion in federal funds announced in July. The project includes flood gates across Adams and Cow bayous. The Orange part of the levees is estimated to cost $1.93 billion, according to the 2017 final feasibility study by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The funding, which is part of the "Coastal Spine," does not require local matching money. Kathy Bell-Schexnaider, of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, suffered a massive stroke on June 12. During her 28 years with MADD, she has helped countless victims in 13 counties in the courtroom,with funeral expenses, medical bills and provided emotional support too. In addition to assisting many families, she did not lose sight of the first victim which is the deceased. Vidor Has 13 Returning Starters For 2018
2017 was a wild and crazy season for the Vidor Pirates. All but two of the coaches lost their homes and 75 to 80% of the players were affected by flooding from Harvey. Even after the Pirates made the playoffs many of them were separated from their families because of the storm. Head Coach Jeff Mathews said it was the weirdest season he can recall and much of it is still just a blur. Now it is this year and Mathews has some strong returnees for Vidor on offense. Crouch, Bears Prepare For Tough New District
Like all the other teams of southeast Texas, Little Cypress-Mauriceville was negatively impacted by the disaster of Tropical Storm Harvey. The Bears recovered from the flooding and played well enough to make the post season. Head Coach Randy Crouch has some key players back on offense for LC-M. Quarterback Ethan McCollum will direct the Bears offense again this year.
