Firefighters from across Orange County worked this afternoon to put out a blaze at Clark & Co. in the 17000 block of Highway 62, about a mile north of FM 105. The company makes and sells cleaning chemicals for commercial car washes. At this time, the cause is not know. The Bridge City Fire Department is taking the lead in the investigation. The fire was reported about 2 p.m. Law officers blocked off the area on Highway 62 from both directions, causing traffic back-ups. No injuries have been reported. Man Arrested After Threatening Church
Vidor Police Chief Rod Carroll this afternoon said the armed man arrested in Sequin Sunday morning was targeting First Baptist Church of Vidor. A caller notified Sequin police about 7 a.m. after seeing a suspicious man who was wearing a surgical mask and tactical-style clothing. Sequin police report he said "he was on his way to church to fulfill a prophecy." Chief Carroll said Sequin police contacted Vidor police when they learned the man was headed there. Gunshots Fired Outside Club
Gunshots were fired late Saturday night at a club in the 200 block of Cypress Avenue off Simmons Drive. Orange police were called about 11:30 p.m., however the shooter was not found. Detective Captain Robert Enmon said two vehicles were damaged by the shots, but no one was injured. He said police do not know if the shots were fired intentionally at the vehicles, or whether the shots were part of a holiday celebration. The two-lane, asphalt country road was a perfect place to build a cottage and raise a family on the outskirts of the city. Veterans returning from World War II got G.I. Bill loans to buy the cottages. Some of the houses surrounded a small lake in a park along the two-mile country road that ran northward from Park Avenue. Thirteen year old Makenna Carey, an 8th grader at Bridge City Middle School, was selected to the All-American Softball Team for the 2019 Winter Games hosted by Softball Youth in Orlando, Florida.
