
A 69-year-old man riding in a Corvette was seriously injured Wednesday in the 2400 block of 16th Street in the vicinity of HEB and CVS. Orange police report Steve Musemeche had incapacitating injuries and was taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room.
Police said the collision was at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Musemeche was in a 1998 red Corvette driven by 47-year-old Farron Daniel Burnett. They were traveling southbound on 16th Street and were hit by a Ford Explorer that was coming out of a private drive and hit the passenger side of the Corvette. Police reported the 19-year-old driver of the Explorer was given a ticket for failure to yield the right-of-way.
Thursday afternoon, another collision in the same area sent two people to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries. Orange police said a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck and a Ford Taurus collided in the 2400 block of 16th Street at Putnam Avenue about 3:30 p.m. According to the police report, the Taurus came out of private property and turned onto 16th Street. The pickup turned off Putnam onto 16th Street and the vehicles hit.
The driver of the Taurus, 61-year-old Elora Renea Williams, and the passenger, 55-year-old Belinda Gold, were taken by Acadian Ambulance to Baptist Hospital Orange Emergency Room.
