Area coaches were scrambling Thursday afternoon after the UIL announced that Livingston High School had turned in false enrollment figures and has been reassigned for football. The UIL has taken them from 10-4A D2 with teams like Bridge City and Little Cypress-Mauriceville and moved them up to 22-5A with Vidor, thus creating a nine team district.
This means any team that had Livingston on its schedule could see a change in the schedule, and the eight teams in 22-5A will have to drop a non-district opponent to add Livingston as a district game.
Orangefield had Livingston scheduled for their fourth game and KOGT has learned that they have filled that spot with LCM.
It could also be a blessing to West Orange-Stark who still needs an opponent to fill its schedule but hasn’t been able to because most of the local schedules had been filled.
The UIL has said Livingston’s move is for football only. Livingston’s district assignments for basketball and other activities will be released at a later date.
