Domestic fight leads to stabbing
A 30-year-old man was stabbed in the arm during a family dispute early Wednesday morning. Orange police report that he did not want to press charges. However, when police were at the hospital emergency room, a person who was with the family and friends was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana.
Officer R.G. Ashworth reported that the staff at the Baptist Orange emergency room notified police about the stabbing at 4:40 a.m. The staff also said several people with the victim were causing a disturbance. The officer found the man lying on a hospital bed with a large cut on the inside of his right forearm. The man said his brother and his brother’s girlfriend had been arguing at the house of the brothers’ grandmother. The victim stepped between the brother and girlfriend and the woman cut him.
Officer C.J. Foreman was also at the hospital because of the disturbance. He reported that a 25-year-old man was “irate and upset” and could not be calmed down. The officer went to check to see if the man had weapons and found a package of “Master Kush” in the man’s front jeans pocket. Terryence John Nelson was arrested for misdemeanor possession of synthetic marijuana.\
Tractor stolen from yard
Crooks in the night stole a tractor from the front yard of a house in the Cove neighborhood. Orange police were called at 12 a.m. Tuesday to a house in the 200 block of Campus Street. The resident said a Mahindra 600 front-load tractor worth nearly $20,000 was missing. The resident had borrowed the tractor from a friend.
In addition, police are investigating two burglaries. One was reported at 12:21 p.m. from a house in the 300 block of 10th Street. Clocks, lamps, mirrors, jewelry and cash worth an estimated $5,000 were reported missing. Officer D.Y. Meyers found cigarette butts at the scene to test for evidence. Wednesday morning, a break-in was reported at a house in the 1500 block of Sholars Avenue. Officer Patrick McDonald said the burglar broke a window to get inside and took several items from the bedroom. Also Wednesday morning, a resident who lives in the 200 block of Farragut went to the police station to report that a weed-eater had been stolen from a tool shed.
