Orange County and Deweyville will have good representation at the State Track Meet. It will be held May 12-14 at Myers Stadium in Austin on the University of Texas Campus.
Bridge City’s Hunter Denton qualified for the State Meet in Austin with a gold medal performance in the long jump. Denton jumped 22-5.75. Denton also qualified in the 200 with a second place finish time of 22.06.
BC’s Kaitlyn Thayer is also headed to State after a second place finish in the shot with a new school record throw of 39-3.
Orangefield will be represented at the State Track Meet as Brooklyn Goldsmith finished second in the pole vault at the 4A Reg. 3 Meet in Huntsville. Goldsmith vaulted a new school record 10-9.
Jared Dupree of West Orange-Stark won the 4A Reg. 3 High Jump Friday at the Regional Track Meet. Dupree set a personal best with a jump of 6-7.
The WOS 4×200, 4×400 and Aaliyah Teal in the 100 advanced to the State Meet Saturday after their performances at the Regional Meet in Huntsville. Both relays finished second and Teal won the 100. Betty McDonald, Shavontae Thomas, Diamond Judge, Aaliyah Teel make up the 4×200. The 4×400 is made up of Mercedes Fezia, Taylor Colbert, Shavontae Thomas, and Aaliyah Teel.
LCM’s Trey Guillory qualified for State Friday with a second place finish in the triple jump. Guillory jumped 45-8 to take home the silver medal.
At the 3A Regional Meet in Waco, Deweyville’s Mallory Dotson won the shot (40-11.5) and the discus (140-6) to advance to State.
Deweyville’s Holli Shannon won the 3A Reg. III High Jump with a jump of 5-0.
