WOS QB Jack Dallas calls his own number on a fourth down play from the 18 in the second half as the Mustangs rolled the Silsbee Tigers 51-2.
The West Orange-Stark Mustang offense put their defense to the test Friday night. Coming into the contest without giving up a point in all four games, four first half turnovers put Silsbee in the Red Zone four times and each time the Tigers came up pointless.
It would be the closest Silsbee would come to scoring because in the second half the Mustang D held the Tigers to minus four yards and no first downs.
The Mustang offense came alive in the second half after posting a 14-2 halftime lead. The “O” would score on their last five possessions for 37 second half points.
Two of those points came on a safety after Silsbee QB Willie Jones escaped a sack by throwing the ball from the end zone without the ball crossing the line of scrimmage.
The Tigers (1-3) are officially the first team to put points on the board against WOS…kind of. The Mustangs offense committed a holding penalty in the end zone that brought back a 99 yd TD run by Keion Hancock, resulting in a two point safety. So officially, the Mustang defense has still not allowed a point in 20 quarters.
WOS (5-0) will play Kennedale Friday at Nacogdoches High School at 7:30 on KOGT. The Wildcats lost to Whitehouse 34-21 to fall to 2-2 on the season.
