The 30th Annual OCARC Fishing Tournament is August 4-5 and it’s the only tournament of its kind with 12 categories that include fresh and saltwater fish.
It’s a big fish tournament. The categories include “The Big 4” Speck, Red, Flounder and Bass that all pay $250 first place. Then there are White Perch, Catfish, Croaker, Black Drum, Sunfish, Grinnel, Mudcat, and Appaloosa Red, which is a red that has multiple spots and the fish with the most spots wins $250.
You can fish in a 40 mile radius around Orange. Ponds and lakes are ineligible. The tournament begins at 5pm August 4 and weigh-in is August 5 at 5pm at the Orange Boat Ramp off of Simmons Drive.
A few changes from years past. Entry fee has gone up five dollars to $30. KOGT Radio will be giving away free entries on the air during regular programming. Certification time begins at 3pm with the new weigh-in time at 5pm instead of 6pm. And the biggest change is in the bass category. Bass brought to the scales have to be alive.
