After a first half in which West Orange-Stark shutout Newton 34-0 and held them to just 38 yards and one first down, the Mustangs finished off the Eagles 48-6 to improve to 5-1. They’ll begin district on the road at Liberty.
WOS rolled up 535 yds of offense. Jack Dallas threw four touchdown passes, two to KJ Miller (both 72 yd. pass plays). The other two were caught by Thomas Wallace and Rufus Joseph. Melech Edwards rushed for 168 yds on 16 carries and a score.
Defensively Newton was held to 198 yards. Aric Cormier had an interception of Eagle QB Brock Barbay, who was 0-10 passing.
Due to the District 9-4A rules, there will not be any away ticket sales during District football games. All tickets have to be purchased the night of the game at away gates. Ticket prices are $4 for adults and $2 for students. Gates normally open one hour before game time.
