The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears lost a tough, physical game to Barbers Hill last week. Coach Randy Crouch states the Bears may be a little beat up after the game, but are ready to battle again. The Patriots of Goose Creek Memorial are next up for the Bears.
Crouch says the Patriots use the Spread offense, but will also run the football. Crouch points out that Goose Creek Memorial throws the ball successfully from the Spread and can tighten up the line and run the ball as well. They have a good corps of receivers to whom Myles Duke will throw the football. Goose Creek Memorial comes into the game with a record of 1-1.
Crouch reminds that the Bears have a young team that is working to improve and they’re pushing forward. LC-M will be facing another physical contest according to Crouch when the Bears play the Patriots. Crouch observes the Goose Creek Memorial defensive line is good and physical. The Patriots play a balance front with at least six defensive starters returning. The Bears must avoid the mistakes and busted assignments made on both sides of the football according to Crouch in the Barbers Hill game.
Coach Crouch believes the Bears have been in both contest to start the season, but improvement is being stressed for LC-M to earn its first win of the year this week against Goose Creek Memorial. Crouch thinks the Bears made too many penalties, too many turnovers, and did not kick ball very well last week. Improvement is needed in all three categories for LC-M. The coach admits the Bears are hungry for a win, the players and coaches are working hard this week to get one, and they could use one this week.
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears play the Goose Creek Memorial Patriots in Baytown on Friday night.
