The LCM vs Silsbee game broadcast on KOGT Tuesday night from the Bear Cave ended early after several fights broke out following an altercation on the court in the second quarter.
Fans and players on each bench joined several of the altercations on the floor when the game was stopped with 2:32 left in the first half and Silsbee leading 42-28. Both teams were sent to their respective locker rooms as referees and administrators conversed. The refs decided to stop the game and since Silsbee was leading, they received a 2-0 forfeit.
Two players for LCM (6-2) and three for Silsbee (8-0) were ejected. LCM plays HF Friday and Silsbee travels to WOS.
After the game LCM Coach Brad Jeffcoat said he was disappointed in the whole situation and told KOGT that fighting has no place in high school sports. He added that his players that were involved will face disciplinary actions.
