Monday night the West Orange-Stark Mustangs opened district with a 3-0 win over the Hardin-Jefferson Hawks.
WOS scored all three runs in the first inning off Garret Neale. Payton Robertson opened with a single and stole second. KJ Miller drove him home with a double. Jack Dallas and Ryan Ragsdale walked while Miller scored from third after a pick off attempt at first. Chad Dallas then drove in brother Jack for the third run.
Dallas put himself in several jams but always seemed to get the big out when he needed it. The Hawks left a runner at third in each of the first five innings but Dallas finished off the Hawks each time with a strikeout, compiling 14 K’s for the game. He gave up five hits, two walks and one hit batter.
Neale was replaced by Logan Bryant in the first inning and gave H-J a chance, holding the Mustangs to three singles the rest of the game.
