The Orangefield Bobcats put themselves in a hole early and couldn’t dig out as Lumberton improved to 3-0 with a 33-21 victory.
OF fumbled on the first offensive play of the game and the Raiders scooped and scored. Lumberton would go on to score on their first two offensive possessions to lead 21-0 after one quarter and 27-7 at the half behind the running of Tim Rhodes and Caleb Thomas.
The Raiders put together a 12 play 80 yard TD drive in the third quarter to make it 33-7. The Bobcats would make it interesting in the fourth with a touchdown by Christopher McGee and then an onside kick that resulted in another McGee TD to cut the lead to 33-21. The Raiders fumbled on their next possession to give the Bobcats another chance, but the Bobcats fumbled for the third time in the game, squashing any hopes of a comeback.
McGee rushed for 100 yards and three TD’s. The Raiders, who added 113 passing yards with their 249 on the ground, got 94 yards and 3 TD’s from Thomas.
Bobcats go to Newton Friday and the Raiders begin district play against Ozen.
