If Brianna Frenzel wanted to set the tone for the series she accomplished that feat Friday, striking out seven of the first eight batters she faced as the LCM Bears beat Huffman 3-0. It was Game One of a best of three series held at PNG High School.
Frenzel, a sophomore, had a no hitter broken up in the sixth inning with a bloop single. She finished with a 3 hit shutout, 11 K’s, no walks and one hit batter.
Offensively Frenzel drove in the first run in the third, bringing in Madison Murdock after she had reached on a base hit.
LCM would add two in the fourth. Renna Toomey, who joined Frenzel with two hits in the game, scored on a Jenna James ground out. Then Olivia Leavings scored on a Jace Perry single. Katy Janes took the loss for Huffman.
Game Two (and 3 if necessary) begins Saturday at noon in Crosby. The winner of the series will play the winner between Huntington and Tarkington.
