Three straight losses since the open week have the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears down, but not out. Coach Randy Crouch says the Bears are still motivated to get better in the remaining district football games. Crouch believes LC-M will regroup knowing three district contests remain and will press forward for those games. LC-M did suffer one injury last week as defensive end Landon Alford is questionable this week with an injured upper arm.
The opponent this week is Huffman. Crouch looks at the Falcons’ offense. Previously, the Falcons threw the ball almost every play out of the Spread Formation. Crouch indicates Huffman has changed that part of its game and is more balanced now. He adds the Bears and Falcons are similar in a lot of ways on offense and in their records this season.
On defense the Falcons do not make many mistakes. Coach Crouch analyzes Huffman as one of the highest rated teams defensively in District 10-4A, Division I. They lineup well and play hard. Crouch states, “They’re not going to be out of position, they line up well, and so it will be a real challenge for us, one we’ll be looking forward to.”
The Bears have dropped their first two district games. Huffman has split its first two games in district. Coach Crouch pinpoints what LC-M must do to earn its first district win. The Bears must cut down on the turnovers which have been a problem the last three weeks and quit giving up so many big plays. The coach points out the game tapes show LC-M is doing a lot of good things. The Bears just need to string more good plays together. Crouch emphasizes, “We going to work to improve this week, get ready for Huffman, and I think we’ll be fine.”
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears travel to Huffman Friday night to play the Falcons. The kickoff will be at 7:00 PM.
