The first win of the season for the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears has Coach Randy Crouch excited about the improvement his Bears are showing each week. Crouch compliments the Bears offense for playing extremely well and did an outstanding job moving the football creating problems for Hardin-Jefferson’s defense. Beau Bickham was credited by Crouch as having played very well. Both Samuel King and Chris Winters ran the ball effectively in the contest. The coach is pleased how LC-M controlled the game and how the offense has shown improvement every week.
The victory comes the week before the start of district play for the Bears. Coach Crouch says the Silsbee Tigers go as does their offense which is led by quarterback Dontre Thomas. Crouch points out the Tigers play a wide open Spread Offense with Thomas pulling the trigger from the shotgun with Kolton Mackey as a dangerous deep receiver. The strong offensive line is anchored by Patrick Hudson. Crouch admits Silsbee is a formidable opponent with a really good offense that will be very difficult to slow down.
LC-M looks to ride the momentum of its first victory into the district. Crouch is hopeful the improvement of the Bears in previous weeks will continue Friday night against Silsbee. Crouch wants to see continued improvement especially on the defense which the coach felt took a step back last week before turning it around in the second half of the game against Hardin-Jefferson. Coach Crouch thinks the Bears will have to play extremely well Friday night which he believes they are capable of doing. He is looking for a good week of practice and for the Bears to improve on things that they can and that’ll be what they have to do to earn a victory in the first game of district action.
The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears play the Silsbee Tigers Friday night and the game will be live on KOGT.
