The Bridge City Girl’s Powerlifting Team put up a great fight at the Regional Meet held in Palacios, Texas of Thursday, February 26 and had two qualify for State. Junior, Emily Warren came in third place and is a state qualifier because she lifted a total weight of 805 pounds. Emily also broke the Regional Record on Bench, by benching a total weight of 160 pounds. Senior, Jacey Walker, was the Regional Champion for the 114 weight class. She lifted a total weight of 715 pounds. Jacey also received the Outstanding Deadlift Award by deadlifting a weight of 310 pounds and she also received the Outstanding Lifter Award for the 97-148 weight classes. These two young ladies will lift at the State Meet on March 20th. Also at the Reg. Meet, in the 97 pounds weight class, Freshman, Shania Dies placed 3rd by lifting a total weight of 475 pounds. In the 105 weight class, Sophomore, Hope Hill, finished 8th, even though she was injured, by lifting a total weight of 440 pounds. In the 165 weight class, Junior Sarah Sams, placed 9th by lifting a total weight of 650 pounds and Sophomore, Carlee Dearing placed 10th by lifting a total weight of 625 pounds. In the 181 weight class, Sophomore, Sam Hargrave placed 7th by lifting a total weight of 620 pounds. In the 198 weight class, Freshman, Ali Tolleson placed 9th, by lifting a total weight of 460 pounds.
