The Stark Museum of Art in Orange will be promoting an exhibition this spring with the help of local school students. Six schools in Orange County will be painting an almost 80-foot mural that will be used in conjunction with the Branding the American West exhibition. Amanda Burkhart with the Stark Museum described the new upcoming exhibition as a 20th Century reflection of the American West through films, photographs, and art. Burkhart exclaimed, “It’s quite beautiful.”
Painting the first of the mural’s six sections are students from Little Cypress Intermediate School. Burkhart said the students will be painting their 13 by 8 foot section of the mural this week. Each school will work on its section of the mural for one week before the museum takes the completed mural banner to weather coat and seal it. The whole art project will be displayed on the fence surrounding the Stark Museum of Art for Branding the American West beginning in mid-March according to Burkhart. All the materials used in the mural are repurposed and recycled by the art museum.
