Candidates are filing for positions on the Orangefield and Deweyville school districts with the elections set for the November 8 general election. Filing will end on Monday, August 22.
The Orangefield ISD has four positions open this year. All four incumbents have filed. Terri Hoyland was running against incumbent Brad Frye for the Place 7 position but has since withdrawn her application. David Wagstaff has filed to run against Dr. Ronnie Risinger in Place 6.
Other incumbents who have filed are Bo Henley, who currently serves as board president, for Place 1; Jesse Freeman for Place 3.
Three people have filed for the four open at-large positions on the Deweyville ISD board of trustees. Incumbents Rodney Whitfield and Gary Brinson have filed for re-election. Newcomer Luke Smith has also submitted his filing papers.
Incumbent Sandra Blakeney has not filed as of Wednesday afternoon. The district reports incumbent Jimmy LaVergne has indicated he will not run.
